How to teach men to English to adults?

I am making English classes in my workplace - in a country where English is not language. My students are adult men, blue collar, and they need to learn English in their work. I hope that the greatest challenge will be to speak - to help them overcome their shyness and fear of ridicule. Have ideas to share or some experience with this type of situation?
